No matter where you are in your blogging journey (maybe you’re just starting out or maybe you’ve got a few years under your belt), there is always more you can learn and do in order to inspire more folks with your words.
In today’s post, I’m sharing seven ways you can become a better blogger in 2020.
Let’s dive in.
1. Read all you can on blogging, writing, social media, copywriting, etc.
If you do not learn, you cannot evolve. It’s as simple as that.
And there’s always more to learn, more to find out, and the truth is that the moment you think you’ve got it all figured out, that’s when everyone else starts to surpass you.
2. Study other bloggers in your niche
What are others doing that seems to work? What about their mistakes? How can you improve when it comes to effectively communicating with your target audience?
Blogs on blogging are essential, but the most you’ll ever learn is by reading other bloggers in your niche.
3. Be passionately curious about everything
Here’s the thing. The truly successful bloggers can connect dots that no one else can see how they could ever be linked together.
This means that you need to absorb a lot of information. As a matter of fact, imagination is simply being able to absorb and remember a lot of information.
Remember, you are a mental factory. And you must consume before you produce. You must read, listen to podcasts, watch movies, tv shows, documentaries.
Feed your brain this year, and you will be able to come up with ideas faster.
4. Listen to the feedback
What do your readers want to read from you? What is it that they don’t like? What areas can you improve upon?
If you do not know, ask them.
Feedback is crucial to being able to evolve.
5. Obey the rule of “more.”
Don’t have enough readers? Network more. You think your content isn’t good enough? Spend more time editing your content.
In order to become more, you need to do more.
If you think you’ve tried it all, and it’s not working, it means that you need to learn more, so you can do more.
More often than not, the problems that seem impossible to fix are the ones we don’t understand in order to get them fixed.
If what you have is not enough, then you need to do more.
6. Guest blog
Submitting your writing is a fantastic way to challenge yourself as a blogger. It motivates you to spend time polishing your article because you want to submit your best work.
Also, it allows you to know for sure if your stuff is any good.
Give it a shot. Maybe you’ll gain a few new readers, maybe the blogger you collaborate with will invite you to work on a project together.
You never know unless you try.
7. Punch those damn keys. Every single day!
If you need thousands of hours of practice to become an expert at your craft, then punching those damn keys every day is the quickest path to becoming a master.
In 2020, don’t think. Just write. You’re not laying a gold egg, you’re just punching those damn keys.
Not everything you write has to be read by others, and that’s okay.
Ideas come to those who sit down and do the work. Never forget this.
This year as you seek to improve your blogging and follow the steps in this article, use yourself as the measuring rod for judging your work.
Is this article better than the one you wrote before it? How can you make it better? What can you do to improve your skills?
Above all, remember to have fun. Keep punching those damn keys!
